EDW Projects Overview
Dancing Robot
The first project is a dancing robot. Initially, the idea was to create a robot that teaches you how to dance by projecting movements on the floor to guide your steps. However, the focus has now shifted towards mimicking human locomotion and biomimicry. The goal is to create a robot that looks like a human dancing. The team plans to start at a smaller scale and build up from there.
Interactive Water Fountain
The second project is an interactive water fountain. The idea is to create a water fountain display that incorporates interesting and interactive lighting. One of their current objectives is to incorporate an audio input, allowing the water fountain to represent waveforms from various audio sources, such as someone singing or music from Spotify.
Cat Car
The "Cat Car" project involves designing a car for cats. This car might include a laser pointer on the front to engage the cat or even shoot treats around the room. There are many fun and creative possibilities for this project.
Boomerang Basketball
Originally, the "Boomerang Basketball" project aimed to create a basketball that would roll back to the player. However, the team decided that incorporating electronics into a basketball would be too challenging and might affect its performance. Instead, they are now developing a small robot that can retrieve the basketball and bring it back to the player.
Water Balloon Bomber
The "Water Balloon Bomber" project is quite straightforward. The team plans to build an RC plane equipped with a payload bay for carrying water balloons, which can then be dropped from the plane.
Additional Concepts
The team has been working on several other innovative ideas. For instance, they envision a water fountain with multiple individual jets that can respond to different frequencies of sound. This setup would allow the fountain to create a visual representation of audio waveforms, making it both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Final Thoughts
The water fountain project, in particular, stands out due to its distinct aesthetic appeal. The biomimicry aspect of the dancing robot is also intriguing. The automation involved in the Boomerang Basketball project adds a layer of complexity that could be quite challenging but rewarding. Meanwhile, the Cat Car and Water Balloon Bomber projects offer classic, fun engineering challenges.
Overall, these projects showcase a blend of creativity, technical innovation, and practical application. The team is excited about the possibilities and the fun involved in bringing these ideas to life.
